college days

My college roommate, Erin, (left) visited this weekend. Which means that a. we shopped a lot and b. we laughed a lot.

We lived together for two years but it'd been six since we last saw each other. Things have changed just a little bit. And our memories? Yeah, not all that great apparently. She reminded me of a lot of people and situations I didn't remember and I reminded her that I DID SO VISIT after I transferred schools.

While she was here, I even dug through the attic to find my old photo album. That's where I found this picture. (It's OK to laugh at the glasses. I know they're a bit... large.) Sophomore year, our second dorm room. Ahhh. I remember that room. Isn't the orange "bolster" lovely? Yes. Nothing matched them, so we didn't even try. I apparently liked teddy bears (background) and I don't quite remember where that poster full of men came from. Huh.

Other things she reminded me of:
1. Mr. Henry's: A bar in DC we went to freshman year. It was a big hangout for kids from our school. (Read: underage drinkers. I guess it's OK to say that. It's been closed for years.) I don't know how many times I went, but I remember the first time. What I remember most was walking to the bathroom (not very straightly might I add... HI MOM!) and hearing a girl in there throwing up. Niiiice. No college drinking outing is complete until someone hurls. Ahh. Mr Henry always delivered.

2. The time they dragged me to this other place in DC called the Cellar. Smooooookey and gross. And this guy kept asking me to dance. I SAID NO!! NOW GO AWAY. And we stayed there for. ev. er. OH YES. And the girl who drove? Locked her keys in the car. That was fun.

3. There are lots of people I didn't remember. How does that happen? We just forget all about them. Does that mean we're old now? Mostly, it was just great to see her. You know how there are people you can go years without talking to and then when you finally see each other it's like you're right back where you left off? That's how this weekend was. Thanks Erin. See ya in a couple weeks! (When I'll be visiting her.)

Careful what you wish for, N. Erin was the hardest partier I knew in college. Hahaha. I could tell you stories. But, erm, I won't do it on the Interweb because she'd get mad at me. And I do have to stay with her soon. Wouldn't want her to kill me in my sleep.

It's not the size, but the tint, of the glasses that kills me.

Glad you two had fun! *ahem e-mail that referenced wine being drunk*

Hey, Miss Momma,

It's a word that is kind of like a snort, but cuter. So you could snorfle when you laugh, for example. Which I think you just did!
