My friend Tim stopped by my desk on his way out the door. We chatted, I admired his jacket. Dark brown suede. Then he says, "Oh! And check out the sunglasses I got at the Oakley outlet." He pulls them out of their little Oakley bag and puts them on. "They're TIIIIIE-TANE-EEUM." If only I'd had my camera. I said, "TIE-TANE-EUM, huh?" He says, "That's how we say it in Roanoke." (But it sounds more like ROnoke when he says it.) Then he left. Sigh. Just when it was getting lively.
