Forgive me, they were delicious
On Father's Day, Chrissy came back from Delaware with a gift for us. It's a gift I both love and hate. It's soo good. But not so good for you. It's... drumroll please... Fisher's caramel popcorn from Ocean City. She usually brings us the small tub, but this time she brought the mid-sized one. Mmmm. It's the best caramel popcorn I've ever had. Ever. Did I say ever? Well, I mean it.
After she dropped it off, David left me at home and went to the movies with Tommy (husband of Chrissy). That was fine with me because he wanted to see Batman Does Something or Other and I just wasn't interested.
Me and the popcorn had a wonderful time. The problem: It's so good that once you start eating it, it's really hard to stop. But I stopped. Halfway through the container. Oops. I hadn't meant to eat that much of it.
I put it in the kitchen cabinet with all the gadgets we don't use everyday thinking I was hiding it from myself. Only guess what? I totally remembered it was there. And three days later, I'd polished off the entire container. By myself.
On the way to the Indigo Girls concert, I confessed.
David: I didn't even get any.
Me: I thought you didn't like it!
David: I love that stuff!
Me: Aww! I'm SO sorry. Next time, you can have it all. I won't eat any of it.
I noticed on the box that there was a Web site. So I ordered him a tub. I thought I'd gotten the same size as the one I ate all of. But it came today. Surprise, honey! And it's larger. I already had a little of it, but I vow not to eat the entire container.
David has permission to hide the container if need be. Now how sad is that?
Actually, the sad thing is that I paid almost $20 for that popcorn. I told Chrissy the whole story and she said she got it for about $7.50. WHAT!? And I've now learned that if you keep your tub and you (or your friend Chrissy) takes it back for a refill, you get a discount. Hmm...
